Chemours currently has a position(s) available for an Environmental Competency Consultant at our Washington Works site in Washington, WV. The Environmental Competency Consultant is responsible to provide strategic leadership and program management for the environmental program(s) assigned to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, corporate policies, standards and guidelines, and site-specific requirements.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide technical guidance, expertise and leadership as a site environmental resource supporting operations and site programs.
  • Provide program Management for the site Water Programs including NPDES permitting, Spill Prevention Controls and Countermeasures (SPCC), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), groundwater protection WV Above-Ground Storage Tank Rule (AST).
  • Provide program management for the SARA 311 and 312 regulations.
  • Prepare required reporting to federal, state and local agencies. Participate in audits or other interactions with federal and state environmental agencies and respond to requests or notifications from environmental agencies.
  • Complete environmental regulation applicability determinations.
  • Drive compliance activities with respect to regulatory and corporate requirements, routine and non-routine activities such as environmental impact assessments of operations projects, process changes, or new/revised regulation applicability, auditing monitoring, recordkeeping and reporting practices to ensure compliance.
  • Lead and/or participate in investigation of environmental incidents, implement system improvements to reduce potential for future events.
  • Lead and participate in 1st party environmental audits, ISO 14001 EMS audits and site(s) 2nd party environmental audits to include audit reports and tracking plans for closure.


    To be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
    • Bachelors degree in environmental science, or related discipline.
    • Minimum of 3 - 10 years of work experience in an environmental capacity specializing in Clean Water Act Permitting and compliance within the chemical manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to quickly adapt to new technology.
    • Proven strong contributor with the capability to work independently.
      The following skill sets are preferred :
      • Knowledge of West Virginia regulations.
      • Knowledge of RCMS and ISO 14001 requirements.
      • Superior written and oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
      • Experience in various Environmental related reporting (SARA 312, 313, CERCLA, NPDES, DMR).

        Pay Range (in local currency):
        $105,280.00 - $164,500.00

        Chemours Level:
        26

        Annual Bonus Target:
        11%
