operator position! this position Operates Groomers, bulldozers,
graders, loaders, and backhoes, to prepare snow/dirt surfaces in
the construction of roads, buildings, plantings, and lumbering, and
skiing surface preparation. Operates cranes or boom trucks in
various operations around the mountain. Operates dump trucks, plow
trucks and cinder spreaders in the treatment of road surfaces or in
the transportation of equipment around the mountain. This position

POSITION SUMMARY
Operating Groomers, bulldozers, graders, loaders, and for backhoes,
to prepare snow/dirt surfaces in the construction of roads,
buildings, plantings, and lumbering, and skiing surface
preparation. Operates cranes or boom trucks in various operations
around the mountain. Operates dump trucks, plow trucks and cinder
spreaders in the treatment of road surfaces or in the
transportation of equipment around the mountain.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Operating groomers or other over the snow vehicles with related
attachments such as from mounted blades, rear mounted tillers,
blades, powder makers, Mt tillers, Rollers
- Following all company and manufacturer, policies and procedures
and recommendations
- Following the Alterra Snow Science best practices
- Concentrating and operating at the same time, two distinct
areas of operation, 12-way blade in the front and grooming
implement in the rear
- Adjusting speed and equipment to ensure a good riding surface
is left behind the machine for our guests
- Operates heavy equipment such as bulldozers, GRADERS, LOADERS,
BACKHOES, track hoes, DUMP trucks, plow trucks, cinder spreaders,
cranes and boom trucks.
- Constructing and maintaining roads, building lots, planting
areas, slopes and terrain areas, and utility lines
- Controlling drainage and erosion in all earth work
construction
- Completing projects
- Assisting, directing and checking work of outside contractors
on projects
- Following all company and manufacturer, policies and procedures
and recommendations
- Operating such equipment as tractors, wacky packers, transits,
drills, pipe cutters, air drills and jack hammers, chain saws, in
the completion of projects
- Performing daily pre operational and operational inspections on
all equipment
- Performing all types of maintenance on equipment
- Following all company and manufacturer, policies and procedures
and recommendations
- Attending regularly scheduled safety meeting
- Complying with all OSHA, manufacturer recommendations, company
policies and procedures, rules and regulations in the operation of
equipment. Use all required safety devices
- Keeping all equipment and work areas clean
- Maintaining all required safety operational logs and
records
- Completing all maintenance, fuel, snow removal, and grooming
logs
- Ensuring that proper billing is achieved by completing work
orders and turning them in as soon as possible
- Making decisions in the daily grooming plan on changing
weather, changes in the snowmaking plan or changing surface
conditions so that a great product can be provided to our
guest
- Performing all related duties as required
- Hauling required equipment and materials
- Operating truck with low boy trailers
- Rescheduling hours or work schedules due to changing weather or
conditions
- Changing shifts from summer to winter months, have flexible
hours

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent
Experience: Prior heavy equipment or grooming experience - 1.5
years
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must have current and valid Driver's License
- Minimum of Class D COL and crane operators' certification
preferred

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Position may require occasional overnight or day travel. Any
employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including
cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required
to comply with the Driver's Standards Policy. This policy also
applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles
for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+
miles per trip. All drivers should receive a full copy of the
Alterra Driver's Standards Policy; if you have not - please contact
your Risk/Safety or HR/EE Department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and
holidays.
Office Environment:
- Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum
of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office
equipment on a constant basis.
- Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile
devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending,
reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking,
kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of

Mountain Environment:
- The primary physical environment in which this position works
is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind,
rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning,
etc...
- The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered
to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day
is common.
- Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or
hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or
equipment.
- Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and
painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack
of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in
activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of
metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and
tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of
communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual
functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
