Provide Midwifery services to assigned patients.
* Acquire and maintain privileges as independent allied health
professional staff. Work as member of a multi-disciplinary team to
provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological health care.
Provide primary care based on protocols. May include family member
follow-up as indicated. Obtain comprehensive history, perform a
comprehensive physical exam and identify deviations from normal.
Order approved diagnostic tests, lab tests and medications as
indicated. Perform lab tests as indicated: Multistix Urinalysis,
Nitrazine and Ferning Test for Rupture of Amniotic Membranes, and
information according to the management process. Complete all
required documentation. Manage prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum,
normal newborn, family planning and gynecological care of patients.
Consult, collaboratively manage and/or refer deviations from normal
as appropriate. Initiate emergency treatment as necessary.
Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills. Attend assigned
clinical sessions and meetings. Maintain records, compile
statistics, prepare required reports. Participate in research,
educational activities and the teaching of students, as assigned.
Observe all health and safety requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct
patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of
the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills
necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment,
treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient
ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate
competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in
terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and
3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial
orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently
perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job
description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform
work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of
the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental
