The opportunity Our Well Engineering and Technology team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Charleston, WV. We are seeking a Storage Engineer who has knowledge and experience to serve as a member of an engineering team to provide the engineering expertise necessary to design, build, and operate storage fields, and assure storage reservoir integrity and field performance. Position specific skills will be developed through mentoring and task assignments. The successful candidate will have an outstanding ability to organize, schedule and supervise company personnel and equipment, contractors and vendors in well construction activities. This position may be filled at either the Charleston, WV or St. Albans, WV office depending on the location and preference of the successful candidate. What you'll do Provide technical services related to design, construction, maintenance, and abandonment of TC Energys storage wellsAssist in formulation of Storage Technical Services capital and O&M programs, advise as to facility condition and recommend additions, modification or replacementsDevelop drilling, completion, reconditioning, re-drilling, stimulation, and plugging job plans and cost estimates ; Select, design and monitor upgrades and construction of access roads and well sitesSpecify materials and services including but not limited to; wellhead components, valves, casing, tubing, packers, drilling, service rig, coiled tubing, snubbing, logging/perforating, cementing, fishing, stimulation, etc.Monitor and supervise (as needed) well construction activitiesConduct and/or assist in facility failure investigation, determine probable cause and recommend remedial actionConduct and/or assist in facility performance and optimization evaluationsMonitor accuracy of well data, ensure well work is accurately documented and complies with document retention processesAssist in risk management activities including hazard-barrier identification and assessment, quantitative risk analysis, risk evaluation and treatment, assessment of risk treatment effectiveness, and risk reportingPreparee and submit Federal notifications and State well work permit applications and work with Land Services and outside contractors to obtain necessary abstracts, title work and surveyors well platsPrepare and submit post-construction Federal and State completion reportsWork directly with personnel engaged in operation and maintenance of storage facilities, discuss operation and maintenance problems with managers, supervisors and employeesAnalyze problems, determine cause, develop alternative solutions, select optimum alternative and recommend to managersMonitor and observe foreign drilling operations affecting storage assets; Protect Companys storage integrity, verify foreign operations compliance with companys drill-through proceduresAct as a liaison with other departments on projects that could affect storage operations, reviews the projects to determine problems and recommend alternatives; Review designs, procedures, work orders, maps and drawings to assure compliance with TC Energys policiesReview, revise, and develop TC Energy Engineering Specifications, Engineering Procedures and Operating Procedures related to well drilling and servicing workProvide process safety engineering support by reviewing job preparation practices, on-site work practices, engineering standards, and integrity plans related to well drilling and servicing workAssist in preparation and attend PHMSA auditsProvide emergency response support for storage well emergenciesOther tasks as required Minimum qualifications Four year degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering preferred6 or more years of experience with oil and gas wellsite operationsAnalytical ability to gather and interpret data and communicate resultsProficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access)Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Preferred qualifications Experience in drilling, well servicing, and production This position requires candidates toHave and maintain a valid drivers license and safe driving record;Successfully complete a pre- employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testingBe available for extended work hours/days, and call-outs as needed; extended workweeks in excess of 20 hours per week during construction may be requiredTravel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from homeWork around heavy equipment and other hazards typical at construction sites, 70% office environment, 30% in the field in various weather conditions Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position.
