Job SummaryPrimarily evening/night shift opening $15,000 sign on bonus available6 Mountain Vascular ICU (VICU) is a 12-bed intensive care unit. This critical care RN practices in a setting where patients require complex ongoing assessment, multiple therapies, and interventions. The VICU is a surgical intensive care unit that serves several primary patient populations. Our nurses rely upon a specialized body of knowledge, skills and experience to provide care to patients after vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, and/or stroke.VICU is nationally recognized as part of Carilion's stroke center designation. As part of the health care team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. The registered nurse also utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.The RN's duties include, but may not be limited to the following:Age specific admission and ongoing assessments are completed, documented and used to develop a plan of care.Collaborates with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care. Minimum QualificationsEducation: Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.Experience: None.Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC). Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
