Job SummaryThe Technical Service Specialist is accountable for
providing technical support to Avantor's global customer and sales
organizations. The Technical Service Specialist interacts with
internal resources to research and communicate technical and
regulatory information to customers pertaining to Avantor's
pharmaceutical and laboratory product offerings. The Technical
Service Specialist is also responsible for developing and
maintaining technical documents as well as updating the on-line
technical knowledgebase and internal databases.LOCATION: This is a
Remote/Virtual roleMAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responds to customers' technical inquiries (via telephone,
email, and live chat) pertaining to the Company's pharmaceutical
and laboratory product lines which includes APIs, excipients, bio
reagents, salts, sugars, acids, cGMP-manufactured solutions,
medical devices, and chromatography media.
- Researches technical documents, reviews product specification
and uses resources such as technical monographs, Company R&D
experts, in-house databases, and personal technical background to
communicate information to customers.
- Triages and resolves customers' technical issues related to
quality, applications, products, and delivery systems.
- Participates in designing/improving information collection and
archiving processes with other departments including but not
limited to Marketing, Sales, and Quality Assurance.
- Participates as part of cross functional team associated with
the customer intimacy programs; responsibilities may include
project management, data collection and review, hosting and
participating in recurring meetings, and issuing meeting
- Ability to travel up to 10% (as needed).
- Other duties as assigned with or without
- BS/BA Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Bio
Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in technical
services, engineering, quality,or sales in chemical or
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory or manufacturing
- Project management experience is highly preferred.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas desired:1.
Analytical chemistry: chromatograph such as HPLC/LC/MS/GC etc.
spectrophotometry/element analysis and wet chemical analysis.2.
Synthetic pharmaceutical & biopharmaceutical drug development and
manufacturing as well as an understanding of industry regulations
(cGMP, FDA, ICH, and WHO), quality and validation. 3. Quality and
process engineering in a chemical or pharmaceutical
environmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast
paced environment while keeping customers' needs in mind.
- Ability to adapt communications with a variety of customer
competencies in a global setting.
- Results-oriented, dedicated team player
- Proven problem solving and leadership skills.
- Exhibits initiative, attention to details and follow
- Ability to learn industry regulations and Avantor's proprietary
- Committed to providing the ultimate customer experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience
working with other computer applications (such as databases) with
the ability to further develop technical skills preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written skills in addition to presentation
and interpersonal communication skills.ORGANIZATIONAL
RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:The Technical Service Specialist will be a
member of the Global Technical Service Team and reports directly to
the Supervisor- Product Support Quality Assurance. He/she will
interact with customers on a regular basis, and works with various
internal functions including Customer Service, Sales, Quality,
Marketing and Operations personnel.WORKING CONDITIONS:The work
environment is an office setting with adequate lighting and
ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. The
duties of the job may require going to the manufacturing facility
on occasion. Occasional travel may be required.DISCLAIMER:
