Position Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist Profession:
Speech and Language Pathology Specialty: Staff Augmentation
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Valid
Speech and Language Pathologist license Certifications: Relevant
certifications preferred Must-Have: Strong assessment and
communication skills Description: Conduct assessments and
evaluations to determine individuals’ levels of receptive and
expressive speech and language skills, swallowing skills, and
social/pragmatic skills. Develop, modify, and implement individual
and group therapy or treatment programs to enhance communication,
address swallowing deficiencies, and prevent asphyxiation.
Recommend changes in food texture and consistency of liquids served
during meals and snacks. Make medical referrals as needed and
confer with medical staff regarding medications to improve
swallowing. Participate in and suggest participation in diagnostic
studies as required. Design and personally deliver speech,
language, and dysphagia management services, which may include
hearing screenings. Provide training and support for individuals
using hearing aids and develop appropriate social communication
skills for everyday situations. Demonstrate language techniques and
how to use augmentative communication devices. Design and deliver
in-service training to other staff on speech-language techniques
and protocols. Act as sign language interpreter as necessary.
Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide
professional insights and goal planning for treatment and care.
Attend meetings, workshops, and seminars to improve and maximize
professional skills and knowledge. Counsel and inform guardians and
family members regarding speech-language, hearing, and swallowing
issues. Compose and complete reports, lesson plans, and other
documentation necessary for implementing, modifying, and tracking
progress of therapy programs. Operate personal computer using
office systems software and specialized communication software to
create, edit, and store records and treatment materials. Maintain
electronic augmentative communication devices and hearing aids.
