Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Pediatrics PACU - Post Anesthetic Care - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/30/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Days, 5x8hrs - Hours: 40 hrs/wk - Start Date: Apr 30, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric PACU position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and major teaching hospital, requiring at least 1 year of Pediatric PACU experience and active WV or compact RN licensure. Details - Position is in the PACU unit of a short-term acute care facility designated as a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU - Major teaching hospital and member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) - Patient population includes both pediatric and adult post-anesthesia patients - Patient ratios are 1:1 for pediatric patients and 2:1 for adult patients - Average daily census of 26 patients across 7 rooms and 7 beds - Weekday shifts are rotating and may begin between 7:30am and 10:00am (e.g., 7:30–4:00, 8:00–4:30, 8:30–5:00) - Weekend on-call shift runs from 7am Saturday through 7pm Sunday (36 hours), required on a rotating basis twice per month - No floating required - Charting system is Cerner; also uses Accudose and SBAR documentation - 13-week assignment Requirements - Active WV or compact RN license required; candidates may submit with a pending license but must have license in hand prior to starting the assignment - Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS - Minimum 2 years of total RN experience required - Minimum 1 year of PACU RN experience required, specifically including Pediatric PACU experience - Pediatric nursing experience required - Candidates must provide a Driver's License and Social Security card for consideration - Minimum of 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration - Clean RN license required; licenses with violations may be submitted for case-by-case approval - Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); medical exemptions accepted with documentation from an allergist or physician — candidates who refuse without medical proof cannot be considered during this window - Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those within 75–99 miles may be submitted pending facility approval Additional Information - Orientation is scheduled every other Thursday - Bright blue scrubs required - Free parking available for travelers - Time off requests are considered based on staffing levels at the time of contract - No restrictions on RTO requests - First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided all experience requirements are met - Former permanent employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to work as a traveler - COVID vaccine is not required American Traveler Job ID P-690808.
