Job Description:
Job Description The Residential Case Manager is a non-clinical,
non-law enforcement professional embedded within the Office of
Public Safety. This role provides essential evening and after-hours
support for students facing mental health crises, personal
distress, or other urgent concerns. This role is critical in
promoting student well-being, safety, and success through timely
intervention, resource coordination, and ongoing follow-up. The
ideal candidate will have an interest in working with a certified
therapy dog as part of outreach and engagement efforts. The typical
work hours for this position are from Monday – Friday with the
hours available 3PM to 11PM or 4PM to 12 AM, with flexible time
options available. Key Responsibilities: Crisis Response &
Intervention (Evenings & After-Hours): Respond to mental health
emergencies, student crises, and wellness checks in collaboration
with campus police and residence life staff. Conduct initial triage
assessments and determine appropriate interventions or referrals.
Escort students to appropriate services or facilities when
necessary (e.g., counseling center, hospital). Provide emotional
support and de-escalation during high-stress situations. Case
Management & Follow-Up: Maintain a caseload of students of concern
and provide ongoing support through regular check-ins. Develop
individualized care plans and coordinate referrals to campus and
community resources. Track student progress and ensure continuity
of care. Document all interactions and interventions in the case
management system (e.g., Advocate Symplicity). Collaboration &
Communication: Serve as a liaison between the police department,
student affairs, counseling services, and other campus partners.
Participate in behavioral intervention and CARE team meetings.
Educate faculty, staff, and students on recognizing and referring
students in distress. Outreach & Engagement: Conduct proactive
outreach to students identified through incident reports,
referrals, or behavioral concerns. Assist in developing and
delivering wellness programming, tabling events, and educational
workshops.
