Duration: 13 weeks - 48 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights -
Employment Type: Travel /n Job Description/n American Traveler is
seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care / Intermediate
Care Unit (PCU/IMCU) position at a Level 1 Trauma Center and major
teaching hospital, requiring strong IMC or ICU background and an
active WV or Compact RN license. /n /n Responsibilities/n - Work in
a 3S Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within a large short-term acute
care, Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital (855
staffed beds) - Unit consists of 8 IMC beds and 10 Observation beds
(staffed separately) - Patient population includes respiratory
conditions, DKA, arrhythmias, post-operative kidney transplant
patients, and interventional neurological patients - Unit is
capable of caring for telemetry patients with medical, surgical,
and renal needs - Patient ratios are 3:1 for IMCU and 4:1 for
Med/Surg - Schedule is 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00
AM, weekdays with every other weekend required - No on-call
requirement - Floating within scope may be required to meet
facility needs - Block schedule requests can be discussed during
the interview - Charting is performed in Cerner - Parking garage is
free for travelers - Orientation is held every other week on
Thursdays - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - No RTO
restrictions; time-off requests should be discussed during the
interview - Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the
facility to qualify; candidates residing 75–99 miles away may be
submitted for facility approval on a case-by-case basis - Scrub
color is royal blue, white, or a combination of both - COVID
vaccine is not required /n /n Requirements/n - Active WV or Compact
RN license required; candidates with a pending license may be
considered but must have an active license prior to start - Minimum
2 years of RN experience required - Minimum 1 year of in-specialty
(IMC/PCU) experience required - Strong IMC and/or ICU experience is
required - Proficiency in interpretation and management of
dysrhythmias required - Ventilator management experience required -
Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required - Flu vaccine
required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); a documented
medical allergy on record by an allergist or physician is the only
accepted exemption - Must provide at least 2 manager or charge
nurse references from within the past 2 years - Driver's license
and Social Security card required for consideration - Former
permanent employees of this health system must have been separated
for at least 2 years before being eligible to work as a traveler /n
