Registered Nurse (RN) | Telemetry Location: Parkersburg, WV Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,308 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS & ACLS Must-Have: Must be able to read telemetry strips. Must be comfortable with cardiac and telemetry patients. Description: The unit is a 43-bed cardiac telemetry unit that includes semi-private and private rooms. Average nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5, with the ability to flex up to 1:6 during peak times. Common patient diagnoses include post-heart catheterization, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and arrhythmias. Registered Nurses will titrate Heparin and occasionally Lasix or Bumex. There are telemetry monitor technicians available on the unit, but all nurses must be capable of reading strips. Charge nurses are present 24/7, though they may take on patient assignments as needed. Patient Care Technicians assist with a goal ratio of 1:8, but this may flex based on staffing needs. Shifts are scheduled as 12-hour day shifts from 0700 to 1930. Self-scheduling is permitted, and block scheduling may be accommodated if unit needs are met. Traveling nurses may be required to work every other weekend, while permanent staff work every third weekend. The orientation process includes one day of computer training followed by one day of shadowing a preceptor. Teamwork is emphasized in this fast-paced environment, where nurses can expect approximately 8-12 admissions and discharges each day. Nurses are encouraged to ask for assistance if they feel overwhelmed with admissions and discharges. This unit is known for its willingness to mentor new graduate nurses, fostering a supportive learning environment.
