Description: The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides care
to obstetrical patients in a collaborative and engaging
environment. This role involves triaging patients, assisting with
labor and delivery, and providing postpartum and newborn care. The
nurse must be familiar with high-risk deliveries and routine
patient care practices. The individual must be able to manage
patient dynamics effectively. On-call duties may be required,
including mandatory weekend and holiday coverage. The unit cares
for low and high-risk obstetrical patients, addressing various
complications such as chronic hypertension and gestational
diabetes. Team members work closely with interdisciplinary support
services to ensure comprehensive patient care. This position
requires strong skills in starting and maintaining IVs, monitoring
infusions, and neonatal resuscitation. Candidates should display
proficiency in providing discharge education to new parents and
conducting newborn assessments. Flexibility in staffing will be
exercised based on census and acuity needs. The nurse will have
access to specialized equipment for monitoring patients and
