qualified Neuro RN in Parkersburg, West Virginia, 26101! Pay

Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Orthopedic-Client
Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per
Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required
Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Experience with orthopedic
patients and PCA pumps are essential. Description: This unit has 33
beds, all private rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 6.
Common diagnoses include a variety of elective surgeries such as
hips, knees, and shoulders, as well as some fractures from falls
and neuro-surgeries involving the back and neck. Experience in
general Medical-Surgical nursing is also favorable. Registered
Nurses do not need to titrate drips, but must have experience with
IV fluids and PCA pumps. There is a Charge Nurse on duty 24/7. The
day charge nurse may take patients if necessary, while the night
charge nurse will always take a full patient assignment. Patient
Care Technicians (PCTs) staff the unit, with a goal of having 4
PCTs if the unit is full, usually a maximum of 3. They can assist
with tasks such as vitals, FSBS, ADLs, and they can also
discontinue Foley catheters. The unit can access respiratory
equipment, including CPAP and BiPap, which are managed by
respiratory therapy. Remote telemetry is available, monitored by
another floor, and registered nurses are not required to read
strips. There are 12-hour shifts from 0700 to 1930 and 1900 to
0730, with a 30-minute lunch break. Permanent staff adheres to
self-scheduling; travelers will be scheduled based on unit needs.
Block scheduling may be permitted, provided unit needs are met.
Every-other-weekend shifts are required for nights. Holidays will
depend on unit needs; travelers may be expected to work holidays if
permanent staff cannot cover. Travelers are the first to float and
can expect to float to any Medical-Surgical units. If floated to
telemetry, they will be assigned patients within their skill set.
Scrub color is royal blue; scrub jackets, if worn, must also be
royal blue. Hoodies or sweat jackets are not permitted. There is a
one-day orientation, followed by one day with a preceptor, and then
