Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of experience required License: RN License required Certifications: BLS is the only required certification Must-Have: Strong knowledge in Medical Surgical and Infectious Disease. Experience with isolation precautions. Ability to manage common MedSurg IV medications and antibiotics. Description: This position requires travel experience. The unit has 18 private rooms due to infectious diseases. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6, with 1:4 if COVID patients are present. Staffing includes 3-4 RNs per shift. Charge Nurse coverage is available 24/7. Night Charge Nurses will take a full patient assignment. Two Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are available per shift. Patients may require Cpap or Bipap support, managed by respiratory therapy. Remote telemetry support is available, and RNs are not required to interpret strips. 12-hour shifts begin at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. Self-scheduling is available for permanent staff. Travelers will be scheduled based on the unit’s needs but may request block scheduling. Every other weekend is required, with weekend shifts being Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday. Holidays will depend on unit needs and may require travel nurses to work. Floating to other Medical Surgical units is a requirement. Royal blue scrubs are the required dress code. A one-day orientation on EPIC will be provided before floor orientation. Travel nurses may be canceled for low census up to two shifts per 13-week assignment.
