Job Description:

Works under the direction of the physical therapist to help provide rehabilitative treatment, according to the physical therapist established plan of care, for patients that have been referred for physical therapy.Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises in a competent, professional and ethical manner.Provides direct and indirect supervision for all assigned patients during their scheduled appointmentsHelps with orientation of new PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANTS and directs and gives instructions to PHYSICAL THERAPY AIDES helping with patient careDemonstrates a working knowledge of the meditech systemDisplays an interest in the department and a consistent focus on self improvementMaintains current CPR certificationProvides basic and emergency first aid for injured athletes, as per appropriate RGH injury protocolsMaintains a positive attitude in daily interactions with patients, visitors and co workers.Follows work schedule and reports to work as assignedMaintains work area in a clean, organized mannerMaintains equipment and supplies in proper orderDemonstrates the ability to actively listen to everyoneReports to: Director of Physical Therapy
Minimum EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent RequiredAssociate's degree RequiredRequired SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 daysRequired Licenses[West Virginia, United States] Other
Must possess licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of WV and must be maintained in good standingMinimum Work ExperienceExperience in the outpatient and acute care settings as a staff physical therapy assistant preferred. Current CPR certification is required.
