Job Description:
Job Description FACULTY POSITION : Neuroscience Faculty
Positions MARSHALL UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES The
Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Science at
Marshall University is seeking candidates for two full-time
tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor.
Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience, biology, or a related
field, at least two years of relevant postdoctoral experience, and
a research program in the general area of neural plasticity. These
positions are partially funded through the NSF EPSCoR Track I award
“West Virginia Network for Functional Neuroscience and
Transcriptomics (WV- NFNT )”. WV- NFNT will help build
inter-institutional capacity for investigating synaptic and circuit
plasticity through high resolution structure-function techniques,
specifically super resolution microscopy and spatial
transcriptomics. New hires and capability will expand on existing
strengths in neuroscience, imaging, and -omics science. The
successful candidates will join a growing and dynamic team of
scientists and educators, and will be expected to become part of
the WV- NFNT team linking institutions across the state. We are
interested in several research foci and model organisms within the
broad WV- NFNT scope, in particular research related to immune
function, metabolic regulation and dysregulation, and responses to
exogenous drugs or other stimuli. Teaching responsibilities will be
in the department’s general education and core courses, along with
development or redesign of upper level and graduate courses in the
candidates’ fields of interest. We are particularly interested in
candidates with qualifications and a desire to teach immunology,
metabolism, or histology, along with neuroscience-related topics.
Our Department and College value a commitment to excellent teaching
and research. The successful candidates must have demonstrated the
ability to develop a strong independent and collaborative research
program involving undergraduate and graduate students, and a
commitment to enthusiastic, innovative, and inclusive teaching.
